About The Ballet Company

DCK’s Ballet Company was founded by Artistic Director Cooper Rust with the aim to give students, who demonstrate both hard work and a high level of attainment, a chance to have additional training and perform four times a year on a semi-professional level.

To become a Company member all dancers; Must be 7 years of age and above, Required to take a minimum of 2 ballet classes a week and to take at least one other discipline of dance (contemporary, musical theatre, tap etc.). This is a year long commitment in which Company members are required to attend all Company classes on Sundays and perform in all Company performances.

There is no fee for joining the company. It is completely free of charge. With this in mind, all persons working with the company are doing so on a voluntary basis and should be treated with the utmost respect and appreciation by all company members and parents/guardians at all times.

All female dancers are expected to wear black leotards and pink tights and hair in a bun to all company classes and rehearsals. Male dancers are to wear white t-shirts and black shorts or tights. All dancers are expected to keep personal hygiene and use deodorant prior to all classes and rehearsals.

Being a part of the company is beneficial to the dancers; they get an extra technical lesson a week, they also participate in two extra performances a year and have the opportunity to work with international choreographers.

Dancers are held to the highest of standards at all times. They should be on time and attend every class or rehearsal unless excused in advance by the Artistic Director.

Auditions are usually held on the first week of September, we hold Company auditions for students who take ballet at least twice a week and who are determined to bring their technique and performance qualities to a higher level.

The Ballet Company performs two extra performances a year besides DCK’s annual recital and Nutcracker performances.
